Annex Hall Gallery

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Monday, October 2, 2023 –Cruise, an exhibition of works by Zackary Petot will be on view Friday, October 6 through Friday, October 27 in the Annex Hall Gallery on River Campus, Southeast Missouri State University.

Zackary Petot is a St. Louis-based curator, educator, and fine artist. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Southeast Missouri State University in 2014 and a Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking from the University of North Texas in 2018. Through various modes of making, his work explores themes of queer codes within the LGBTQ+ community which are still referenced or long lost to our current queer culture. His work has been exhibited nationally and published in several art magazines nationally and internationally. Currently, he is the Executive and Artistic Director at the St. Louis Artists, Guild located in St. Louis, Missouri.

Cruise is a collection of work derived from the Club Bath Series and Polari Series of work by Petot, exploring the language of Polari in the relation to the history of the bathhouse within the queer community and its role as a cruising ground for gay men.

An opening reception for Cruise will take place on Friday, October 6 from 5-7 pm.
