Catapult Creative House

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Monday, October 2, 2023 –Embrace Macabre: A Dark Survey, an exhibition of sculptural works by Danny Rohr, will be on view from Friday, October 6 through Thursday, November 9 at Catapult Creative House.

Danny Rohr is an artist based out of Peoria, Illinois. He and his partner own and operate Black Dog Metal Arts, a sculpture facility geared towards educating their community on how to make artwork while providing a safe space to do so. Danny has exhibited his artwork throughout the United States and is heavily involved in the cast iron art community.

This exhibition is of work spanning the years 2014-2023. For the last decade, Rohr has been fascinated with darker aspects of our world. Finding inspiration from ancient torture devices, to modern horror manga, he finds ways to utilize that which holds his fascination, in order to comment on modernity. According to Rohr, “An embrace of the macabre permeates what I make and emboldens an empowerment to tackle issues I find relevant.”

An opening reception for Embrace Macabre: A Dark Survey will take place on Friday, October 6 from 5-7 pm.

The exhibition is free and open to the public. Attendees are welcome to tour the entire Catapult facilities including the Southeast Missouri State University Department of Art and Design students’ studios and Slingshot Gallery on the second floor.

Catapult Creative House is located at 612 Broadway, Cape Girardeau, MO. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
