Past: Open House at Historic Old Bethel Baptist Church

Historic Old Bethel Baptist Church, located in Jackson, will be open to visitors on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Old Bethel Church was organized in 1806 giving it the historic significance of being the first non-catholic church west of the Mississippi River. Worshippers at Bethel were very devoted and believed strongly in the Great Commission -" Go ye therefore ...". Members organized 9 other churches in the area, which was then known as the Cape Girardeau District, the last of these being the First Baptist Church of Jackson. Organized in 1824, the Jackson Baptist Church continues on the "Journey of Faith" begun more than 200 years ago , spreading the message of God's love.

Old Bethel Church and Cemetery is located in a secluded area a short distance from the highway 61 and Highway 25 intersection in Jackson. Members of FBC Jackson invite you to come visit an important part of our religious history and enjoy the peace and beauty that can be found at Old Bethel Baptist Church.
